The Client Attorney Relationship
The Client Attorney Relationship officially commences when the Client signs and returns the Retainer Agreement with the applicable Retainer Fee to the Attorney. The Retainer Agreement, among many things, details the Attorney and Client's information, the scope of the matter for which the Attorney is being retained, and the fee arrangement. The Fee Arrangement states the price of the Retainer Fee, which is the fee required to officially hire the Attorney as the Client's legal representative, and describes the how the Client will be billed for the work performed on the said matter. |

Billing
Our Clients' satisfaction is the most important part of our practice. For that reason we tailor our billing arrangements to each specific matter accepted by the Attorney. Our arrangements can be one of three types: Fixed Fee, Contingency Fee, or Billing on an Hourly Basis. However, where appropriate, we will create a hybrid type based on the situation and the Clients' needs.
Fixed Fee:
Matters that require a certain and determinable amount of work to be performed may be billed pursuant to a fixed fee arrangement. This means that the Client will pay a pre-determined price for services provided. Sometimes filing fees and costs are included in the said price. This is determined by the billing attorney and conveyed to the client in detail in the Retainer Agreement provided to the Client.
Contingency Fee:
There are several types of matters that may be accepted by the Firm on a Contingency Basis. A Contingent Fee is a fee paid to the Attorney based on the amount of money won or awarded to the Client as a result or outcome of the matter, and is usually calculated as 33% of that total outcome, minus expenses.
Hourly Fee:
This arrangement calls for the Client to be billed on an hourly basis, and is most commonly used in matters or transactions where the amount of work or duration of the project is difficult or impossible to estimate. When billed on an Hourly Basis, the Client will receive a monthly Invoice, payable within 30 days of the date of the invoice. The invoice will detail the date on which the Attorney or staff member worked on the matter; detail the task performed and the amount of time spent on the task; and list other fees and expenses, as applicable, that were incurred during that time period.
Hybrid Arrangements:
The Attorney reserves the right to create a billing arrangement comprised of a mixture of the three types of billing methods mentioned above based on the clients needs and ability to pay, when the Attorney deems it more efficient.
