A Note From Marisa A. Corvisiero on Submissions and Timing...
When submitting your work, please make sure that your format is not difficult to read or hard on the eyes. I don't mind attachments, but don't send me viruses. If you do, you will be automatically declined. ;) See submission guidelines and status below (if accepting queries).
Upon review, you may be asked for your complete manuscript (hard copy may mailed to my NYC office, but please also e-mail your e-version). Please only submit your best and most carefully edited work. Do not pitch or submit unfinished manuscripts. As much as I love helping authors, I just don't have the time to stop reading to edit the work unless it has been solicited with the knowledge that edits may be needed.
Also, please note that I am quite behind on my query review and response time. For this, I apologize to you all. I know that the waiting can be torture! But know that I answer every single query, which is probably part of why I'm so behind (other than the volume). If you have not heard from me, it simply means that I did not get to yours yet. When I do, you will get a response.
A few months back discovered that my spam box was accumulating some queries. I don't know how they were filtered in there, but I have some queries in there from as far back as March! So if you submitted that far back and have not heard back from me yet, it is possible that yours was one of the unfortunate ones. This is still happening, but now I know that I need to keep checking for spam periodically. Solicited manuscripts get priority, and after those, I will be prioritizing queries in the order that they were received. All queries will be answered, and all will get the same careful attention and consideration.
I appreciate everyone's patience and hope to get caught up as soon as possible. My goal response time is 6 to 8 weeks, so Please don't send me follow up inquiries before that, if you must send them at all. Thanks!

Submission Guidelines

In light of the fact that I'm already over 1000 unsolicited queries backlogged, that I would like to finish submitting all of my current projects by the end of the year, and that we intend to launch the new LITERARY POWERHOUSE PORTAL in February of 2012, I have decided to suspend queries for a couple of months. Please stay tuned for the reopen announcement and changes to guidelines.
Please note that postings on this blog are managed by me directly and that the most recent and accurate information can only be found here. The L. I am currently considering only the following genres:
Fiction: Romance and cross genre romance, thrillers and adventure, paranormal, fantasy, science fiction, and the same genres for Young Adult and Middle Grade.
Non Fiction: Spiritual, self-improvement, parenting, and science.
Please submit a well drafted query letter and your first 5 pages to me at marisa@lperkinsagency.com. You should receive a response from me within three months from the date of your submission. If you do not hear back within six months at most, this will mean that the work is declined.
I will try to respond to every single query. I really dislike general form rejections or black holes, unfortunately they do happen when we get really busy. I will try to keep everyone informed and to be as helpful as time permits. I thank you in advance for the honor of reading your work, and look forward to hearing from you!
